Trauma & Scar Restoration Programme, Nottingham
Restoring Confidence After Trauma, Injury & Violence
Second Look Restore is a specialist programme created by Second Look Medical Group to support people living with visible scarring or skin damage following traumatic injury.
For many people, a visible scar is more than a physical change. It can be a lasting reminder of an extremely difficult experience and may have a significant impact on confidence, self-image and everyday life.
At Second Look Medical Group, we believe our clinical expertise should be used not only to provide exceptional private treatment, but also to help people whose lives have been changed by circumstances outside of their control.
Second Look Restore was created for exactly that purpose.
The programme is designed for individuals affected by:
- Domestic violence
- Acid attacks
- Physical assault
- Burns
- Accidents
- Surgical trauma
- Facial injury
- Other traumatic scarring
Specialist Scar Restoration at Second Look Medical Group
Every case is different.
Our clinical team assesses each person individually before recommending treatment, taking into consideration the type of injury, age and characteristics of the scar, skin type, previous treatment and the outcome the patient would realistically like to achieve.
Depending on the individual, treatment may include:
- Fractional CO₂ laser scar resurfacing
- Specialist laser treatments
- Treatments designed to improve raised, thickened or uneven scars
- Skin resurfacing and texture improvement
- Treatments to improve pigmentation or discolouration
- Regenerative skin treatments
- Combination treatment programmes where appropriate
Our aim is not to erase someone’s history or promise that every scar can disappear completely.
Our aim is to use the technology, expertise and treatments available within our medical clinics to make a meaningful difference wherever we can – improving the appearance, texture and quality of damaged skin and helping people regain confidence in themselves.
Funded & Supported Specialist Scar Treatment
A key part of Second Look Restore is helping make specialist treatment accessible to people who may otherwise be unable to receive it.
For selected cases, including certain patients affected by serious burns or traumatic injury, Second Look Medical Group may be able to access private funding or external financial support towards treatment.
Eligibility and the level of support available will depend on the individual circumstances of each case and the funding available at the time.
We also work to identify appropriate charitable, private and third-party funding opportunities where possible, particularly in cases involving significant trauma, violence or life-changing injury.
Where funding is available, it may contribute towards some or all of an agreed treatment programme.

Using Private Medicine for a Greater Purpose
Second Look Medical Group has built its reputation providing advanced aesthetic, laser and regenerative treatments within the private medical sector.
Second Look Restore allows us to use that same expertise for something bigger.
The technology used every day to improve skin, scars and confidence for our private patients can also have an extraordinary impact on someone who has experienced a serious burn, assault, accident or traumatic injury.
We want to create a pathway where advanced treatments that might otherwise feel out of reach can be made available to people who could genuinely benefit from them.
Sometimes improving a scar is not simply cosmetic.
It can mean feeling comfortable looking in the mirror again.
It can mean wearing something without trying to hide an injury.
It can mean feeling less defined by something that happened to you.
And, for some people, it can represent another step forward after an incredibly difficult chapter of their life.

- Combination treatment programmes where appropriate
Any photography, filming or sharing of a patient’s experience will only ever take place with appropriate consent.
